The other day when I was cooking, I had the Dixie Chicks blasting. I think they’re about my favorite for dancing around and singing when alone in the house. No matter what you think of their politics, those girls are fucking amazing musicians.
I need something to read for tonight’s class. This reading is different in that we can chose any type of medium (drama, prose, poetry), as long as it’s published. We are encouraged to read things that have personal meaning to us, and the DC song Godspeed came instantly to mind. When I hear this song, it makes me choke up. It brings up memories of my boys as babies, then little toddlers, then today. It so perfectly encapsulates how I felt/feel when watching my babies sleep. I’m not sure if I’m gonna read the lyrics for class, because I’m afraid I’ll choke up, but I kind of think that would be okay. This one’s kind of a two-fer, Landslide is on the recording after Godspeed.

Dixie Chicks are what me and the girls put on on Wine Nights! They definitely have a lot of meaningful songs for us as well.
