In just a couple of hours, I will be meeting my Fireman’s son for the first time. He’s a little guy, only (almost) six, with a little boy voice and little boy toys. Things my boys don’t have anymore, things that I miss. I haven’t been nervous about meeting him until this morning, but now it’s getting that way a bit.
Perhaps its because I know that the Fireman has never introduced any girlfriends to the boy. He has been very protective of his little guy, and it’s a very big deal, this whole meeting of the children thing. We have made a commitment to each other, taken a leap of faith that the other person will be around not only for us, but for our sons as well. I feel as though we are doing things the right way. We got to know each other well before having a physical relationship, before introducing our children in, and we continue to learn about each other daily, growing the bond between us.
There are many things I would love to tell you about, all the beautiful, colorful hopes that have risen up like a rainbow after a thunderstorm. I feel that I need to keep them close, though. Who knows? There may be some more protected posts before long.

UPDATE: Lunch went well, his son was absolutely adorable and very polite. We decided we’re going to have a game night soon so he can show me Super Mario World. I wasn’t nervous at all by the time I got there and saw my Fireman, and everything was fine. I can’t wait to get to know this little guy better.

I can understand the nervous part, but you will do fine. Just don’t tell him to eat his vegi’s and he will love you. Oh, if you show up with worms or a frog he will so totally be yours
I would be nervous too. I’m glad it went so well!
<3
whoops that was supposed to be a happy little heart!
smooches
Awww! Of course it went well. You’re awesome, and you know boy speak!
Oh, and any reason you know of why I can’t get your blog in Google Reader? It’s driving me crazy. I need you in my Reader!
Ron – Well, I didn’t tell him to eat his veggies, but I also didn’t bring a frog or a worm along. Maybe gummi worms next time?
ETW – Thanks!
AB – Well, it’s a little wonky, but it’s still a heart!
Lola – Thanks babe. I dont’ know nothin’ ’bout no Google Reader! Sorry!
Great! Glad it went well.
